Dear Music Artists, Handle Business ...

I've had a lot of local artists tell me "I don't make music for other people, I make music for me" ... Or something to the effect of musical selfishness. It lets me know why some will forever remain local ...

I'm not a rapper or singer, but I am an artist and in case y'all forgot Music is only half the equation -- there's also the BUSINESS ... and sometimes you have to think about what your potential NATIONAL fans would love, and bite the bullet and record a like-able track that you're not quite in love with, and handle Business. Be in love with the 12 other songs on your album, and take a chance on one you only kinda like.

Every time an artist tells me that, I think of the scene in the movie Notorious where Diddy plays the old school track for B.I.G.  He wasn't feeling it, but he trusted Diddy, blazed up and created what would become a legendary hip hop song.

Sometimes you have to trust those who may not know the creative side, but know what will bring your music and story to the masses.

A true artist can turn an old school favorite into a hip hop classic.

RIP BIG
